Try Less. Get More Job Offers

Good morning Data Scientists,

Feeling worn down by your job search?

Endless applications. Little response. Same rejection emails.

Here’s a counter-intuitive idea:

Try less.

And enjoy yourself more.

I fell into the same trap in December.

I was so focused on work and coaching that I forgot to actually enjoy my life.

So in January, I changed approach.

I worked a bit less — and made space to enjoy myself again.

Last weekend I played football for the first time in three months.

Didn’t score (painful), but absolutely loved it.

It was genuinely restful — and this week has been one of my best in a while (plumbing disaster aside…).

The same principle applies to your job search.

Don’t force yourself to apply to 20–50 roles you don’t care about.

Instead, focus on a small number of companies you’re genuinely excited by.

And don’t treat interviews like a chance to regurgitate STAR answers.

Treat them as conversations with future colleagues.

That’s exactly how my client James went from a DS job he hated…

…to one he’s genuinely excited about.

It took two months — and just ten applications.

If your job search feels frustrating, I’m offering 4 free calls next week to help you pinpoint what’s holding you back and what to do about it.

Enjoy your weekend, and God bless,

Albert
