The Subtleties of Finding a Data Science Job
Good Morning Data Scientists,
It’s easy to think being good at your Data Science Job means your job search will be easy.
‘If I’m doing good work here, then I can do good work somewhere else?’ you might think.
That’s what my friend Dan (Data Scientist in California) initially thought.
He recently found a new Data Science Job (after 6 months of searching), with a nice £22k pay increase.
But he initially found his job search overwhelming.
The thing is, Data Science Jobs can involve a lot of
Planning a solution to a problem
Ensuring your code doesn’t break
Digging into numbers
These are all great skills to have.
But a job search involves a lot of
Selling yourself (CV, LinkedIn, Cover letters)
Connecting with people (in interviews)
Marketing (to stand out from others)
which Dan wasn’t as used to.
It can seem overwhelming when you’re trying to do that by yourself.
Especially when you never get any feedback.
So you don’t know if you’re doing things right.
This is what Dan had to say after getting his job.
Hey Albert,
I've just landed a new data science job and wanted to say thanks for your help!
I was worried about the job search but you made It much easier for me.
I knew I needed help but I wasn’t sure where to get it. The changes you made to my resume and cover letters made a big difference and I am so grateful.
Thanks for making this overwhelming process simpler and more manageable!

If you’re also struggling to find a Data Science Job (and want results like Dan).
I’ve got one spot left (the other two were filled yesterday) on my mentorship program The Confident Data Scientist.
The program helps existing data professionals find high-paying data science jobs with exciting projects, typically in 2-3 months.
If you’re keen, reply ‘confident data scientist’ to this email and I’ll see if I can help you.
God Bless,
Albert.
