Steven Bartlett Helped Me Get A DS Job

It was a warm September evening in London.

I stepped onto the 5-a-side pitch, astro turf bright green.

I’d told my friends I’d applied for a new job.

But deep down, I felt hopeless about getting it.

I did the screening interview, and it went ok.

Through to the next round!

Time for a case study.

I’d asked Dad (also a maths Whizz) for some guidance.

I was on a family holiday at the time.

Mornings were spent prepping on my laptop, afternoons at the beach.

I was nervous before the interview.

But once the zoom call finished, I knew I smashed it.

I was buzzing.

Fast forward one month later to the final round.

I researched the managers on LinkedIn.

Lucky for me, I saw one of them also listened to the Steven Bartlett podcast (made it easy to build rapport with them).

Thought it went well.

Asked my friend at church to pray I get the job.

And then it happened.

24th October, 2022 (I still remember the day lol).

Seeing that ‘congratulations email’.

I was at work, so I nipped into the toilets to tell my mum.

I set my phone wallpaper to the company logo (people thought that was weird lol)

I started the role on January 2nd 2023.

It’s almost been 3 years: and I’m still here.

What’s the takeway from all this?

You might feel hopeless about your job search (like I did on the astro)

But you’ve got unique experience and resources which can help you.

For me it was

• Help from Dad (lol)

• The Steven Bartlett shared interest

• The prayer

For you it might be something else.

But you can do it!

You can get that dream job.
