Standing Out In Your Job Search
Good Morning Data Scientists!
Looking for a new job?
You might think it’s easier to apply for as many jobs as possible (in multiple different industries) to increase your chances of finding a data science job.
But when you apply for various industries, it’s hard to stand out for any of them.
Instead of focusing on the QUANTIY of applications.
You need to pick 1 or 2 industries and focus on the QUALITY.
Here’s how it’s worked for some of my previous clients:
Lucy: UK data analyst working in a university, got a Data Science job at an education start-up (applied for 2 roles)
Sam: US Data Scientist working also working at a university, also got a job at an education start-up
Frank: UK client working at a leading consultancy, got a job at a a Data Science Consultancy
So don’t focus on loads of industries.
Pick 1 or 2 which interest you the most, and make higher - quality applications for those.
It’s what I’m doing for one of my current clients.
He has experience in the travel industry and has a keen interest in gaming, so those are the areas we’re focusing on.
Have a great Thursday and God Bless you!
Albert
