How To Sell Yourself
Morning Data Scientists,
When you’re looking for jobs, it’s easy to think you need more experience.
It’s easy to doubt if you’re good enough.
Especially when you’re stuck in a dead-end job.
With nothing exciting on the horizon.
My mate Lodo nearly fell into this trap.
He’d interviewed for a few Data Science Jobs but had no luck.
When you’re in this situation, it’s easy to think you need to ‘do more projects’.
Or give up all together.
I don’t blame you.
Job searching can be a tiring process.
Lucky for him Lodo didn’t quit.
After a short chat, it turns out he had neglected to talk about a stellar project he’d work on.
One which would make him stand out like a sumo wrestler at a weightwatchers class.
Once we’d established that and I suggested which bits he needed to talk about in his interviews (and how).
He got a job offer!
And he starts on Monday.
So you don’t always need to build more projects.
Sometimes you need to do a deep dive on work you’ve already done, and sell it.
By the way, if you need help standing out in this tough job market.
I’m accepting new people onto my mentorship program, The Confident Data Scientist.
It’s all about finding you an exciting data job ASAP (like Lodo, who did it in 3 months).
Applications for the program close Tuesday 10th September, so reply to this email with exciting data job if you’re interested, and we can see if you’re a good fit.
Speak soon and God Bless.
