Hey mate,
Have you ever felt so embarrassed you wanted to crawl back inside your skin?
Well I certainly have.
On my flight back from South Africa I sat next to an elder gentleman.
He needed a lot of assistance from me, like getting up for the toilet.
Anyway, we formed an unlikely friendship.
2 people even thought he was my grandad haha.
But I felt like an idiot when I spilt milk over him (I was prepping his coffee).
Although I’d done a minor cock-up he didn’t mind.
He was grateful that I’d gotten to know him.
And it’s similar with data analysis jobs.
Even if you don’t match all the job requirements.
Interviewers care more if you show enthusiasm in their company.
And they also care about other non-technical skills, such as
Willingness to learn
Being able to take on feedback
How you work in a team
My client Akanbi did this to perfection in his interview.
And that’s how he got his first data analyst job.
(Even though he had no experience).
So whilst you need the key technical skills for a job.
Don’t worry about ticking all the boxes.
Think about your soft - skills.
By the way.
If you want help finding your first Data Analyst Job, like Akanbi did.
I’ve got one more space on my mentorship program, which does just that.
You have until Sunday to sign-up.
(I don’t know when I’ll accept new people after this)
Reply ‘Data Analyst’ If you’re interested.
God Bless,
