What I'm Currently Working On
Good Morning Data Scientists,
Whilst I’m normally breaking down somebody else’s Data Journey in these emails.
Perhaps you might like to know what I’m currently working on?
1) 9-5
Aim for a promotion to Senior Data Scientist next January.
How am I gonna do this?
Focus on delivering on big new project
Don’t become too proud: keep asking questions and for help when I need it
Help others e.g., sharing best ways of working via Git, offer support if a colleague is struggling, be happy to answer Qs and help with ad-hoc work
2) Data Science Coaching
Keep getting jobs for my clients.
The current client most likely to next get a job is a mother of two kids who’s transitioning into DS from education, whilst working part-time.
She’s just putting together an application for her dream job as we speak.
I’ll also be committing to sending out 3 emails a week, up from my regular 2.
3) Personal Projects
Play around with data from my journaling app Daylio.
I’ve explored building a recommendation system but that’s not got any legs as I don’t record enough data for it to be useful.
There’s also potential to run a language model over the free-text notes I record in the app.
To get a feel for what the data looks like, I’ve put together an incredibly basic dashboard of my most frequent activities:
I might share this with you guys but this isn’t anywhere near good enough to be something I put on my CV haha
Anyway, hope you enjoyed that.
Let me know if you want to learn more about what I’m working on.
Happy Weekend!
P.S.
Make sure you get some rest in
If God worked for 6 days and rested for 1, so can you.
