Going From Interview Zero to Hero

Morning Data Scientists,

When you interview and don’t get the job, it sucks.

It hurts so much.

You wonder if you have the strength to apply for more jobs.

You might think you didn’t get the job as your portfolio wasn’t good enough.

Or you didn’t have a referral.

I certainly used to believe that.

I remember one particular interview, I thought I’d smashed it.

I recall having so much fun during it.

But still got the dreaded rejection email.

On the bright side, I got some amazing feedback.

This helped me get offered my first Data Science Job in the next interview I had.

I learnt that how you sell yourself in interviews is so much more important than the skills you have.

And whilst you might think ‘selling’ is hard.

It is if you’re trying to flog used cars.

But when you’re selling your specialist subject - you.

It’s something you can learn pretty quickly.

Anyway, my pomodoro timer is about to expire, so I’ll leave it there.

I’ll have to give you some more details another time…
