Get Your First Interview in 6 Months

Good morning Data Scientists/Analysts,

One of my clients (a UK data analyst) just landed an interview at Vodafone (a major telecoms company).

We’ve only been working together for 3 weeks, and it’s his first interview in 6 months.

Here’s how we got him the interview:

1. CV Optimisation

He didn’t realise it, but my client was focusing too much on the wrong bits of experience and didn’t know how to sell his projects properly.

I’ve seen 100s of CVs so it was quick and easy to spot - 3 days after he signed up we had his CV polished off.

2. Cover Letters

Most people only LinkedIn easy apply for jobs, and then complain that it’s hard to stand out.

No shit.

Employers don’t just want to know you have the experience for the role, but they also want to see you’re enthusiastic for the job.

Writing a cover letter is an easy way to do this, especially when you have a ‘plug and play’ template to use.

3. Networking Messages

Once you’ve applied, you want to maximise the chances of your application being seen.

So in addition to applying online, we’ve also sent LinkedIn messages and emails to employees close to the role, letting them know about our application.

Based on the messages I’ve received, most data analyst send messages straight up asking for a referral/interview.

Instead of doing that (as you’ll never get a reply), the tone of the message was more friendly.

We let them know about the application, whilst highlighting some of my client’s skills.

CV optimisation, cover letters and networking messages.

That’s how my client got his first interview in 6 months.

If you think you’d like some help like this, reply ‘confident data scientist’ to this email.

All the spots on my coaching program for finding high-paying, exciting Data Scientist & Analyst jobs in the UK & US are currently taken.

But I’ll add you to the waitlist and let you know when a spot opens up.

Happy Thursday and God Bless,

Albert
