Don't Make This CV Mistake

Good Morning London Data Scientists!

About to start a new job search?

Here’s a CV mistake I keep seeing which you want to avoid:

No Business Context in your bullets.

It’s easy to focus on the technical side of your work e.g.,

‘I built a xgboost model with a 40% hit rate’.

But managers (and stakeholders) don’t care about specific technical details.

They care about solving business problems.

So don’t just talk about the model you built, explain why you built it (and quantify the outcome).

For example, you could say

‘To identify customer fraud, I built an xgboost model in python which saved the company £250k/year’

So don’t just focus on the technical side, and mention the business problem you’re solving.

Happy Wednesday and God Bless!

Albert

P.S.

I’ve just been on holiday in Switzerland and moved to a new flat - hence the recent radio silence!
