Am I A Career Coach or Recruiter?

Good morning Data Scientists,

I’m often asked if I’m a career coach or a recruiter.

Here’s the short answer:

I’m a career coach.

I don’t work directly with companies.

I don’t have roles to fill.

And companies don’t pay me to find fill jobs.

I enjoy my 9–5 as a data scientist, and I want to help others find roles they genuinely enjoy too.

So instead of bringing you jobs, this is what working with me actually looks like:

  • We build a clear list of companies and roles to target (including adjacent options you might not naturally look at)

  • I help you sell your experience properly, so your CV, LinkedIn and messages actually get read

  • I help you build relationships with interviewers, so you’re seen as a future colleague — not just another applicant

Some of my previous clients did use recruiters to get their next role.

But it only worked because they’d already been through this process first.

The recruiters and interviewers saw them as obvious fits for the role — not risky hires.

So no, I’m not a recruiter.

But I teach the skills that make recruiters, hiring managers and interview panels say yes.

If you’re interested in learning more about how this works, I’m offering one free call next week to explain the process and see if it’s right for you.

Happy Wednesday and God bless,

Albert

P.S: If you’re into football punditry, you could say I’m “a bit of both”…
